What to focus on
Turkey is strongest when heritage and landscape stay balanced. Istanbul and Cappadocia already explain much of the country, and a third block such as Ephesus, Pamukkale, or the Antalya coast adds range without breaking the route.
Route logic
Six to eight days is the safest first structure: three nights in Istanbul, two nights in Cappadocia, and one to two nights in one western or coastal block. Shorter trips should stay focused instead of stretching from the Aegean to the far east.
Planning watchouts
Do not treat Turkey as a single easy sweep. Domestic hops are manageable, but the trip works best when you choose one extra region well rather than trying to force every famous area into the first visit.
Hagia Sophia
Hagia Sophia is not just an icon; it is the clearest place to read the overlap of Byzantine and Ottoman history.
Cappadocia Goreme
Balloons are only part of Cappadocia; valley walks, cave hotels, and sunset viewpoints shape the quality of the stay.
Pamukkale
Pamukkale makes far more sense together with Hierapolis than as a quick photo stop at the white terraces alone.
Ephesus
If classical antiquity matters to you, Ephesus is usually the anchor of the Aegean section.
Antalya Coast
The Antalya coast works well as a softer Mediterranean finish after cities and ruins, and also extends easily into a holiday stay.
