What to focus on
Georgia is easiest to understand through three contrasts: Tbilisi for city character, Kazbegi for mountain drama, and Kakheti for wine-country pacing. That trio already gives a strong Caucasus introduction.
Route logic
Six to eight days is the safest first structure: two to three nights in Tbilisi, one to two nights in Kazbegi, and one to two nights in Kakheti. Only add Svaneti if it gets its own dedicated mountain block.
Planning watchouts
Do not underestimate mountain-road time. Georgia feels compact on a map, but weather, road conditions, and altitude changes can easily turn an overpacked plan into a long-transfer trip.
Tbilisi Old Town
Tbilisi Old Town is the natural gateway, concentrating sulfur baths, historic streets, and a strong food-and-wine scene.
Kazbegi Gergeti Trinity Church: More than a photo stop, Gergeti is the reason many routes justify an overnight in Kazbegi for the mountain atmosphere.
Sighnaghi in Kakheti
Kakheti is about rural rhythm and wine culture, where winery spacing and tasting flow matter more than raw stop count.
Mestia and Svaneti
For a deeper Caucasus mountain feel with tower villages and longer alpine scenery, Svaneti adds far more depth than the standard north route.
Batumi
Batumi works well as a finishing contrast, pairing a Black Sea promenade with modern design and a warmer coastal climate.
