What to focus on
Egypt is strongest when Cairo and Luxor build the core logic first. Pyramids, old Cairo, and Nile-era temples already explain the destination clearly before you add Aswan, the Red Sea, or desert extensions.
Route logic
Five to seven days is the safest first structure: Cairo first, then two to three nights around Luxor. Eight to ten days allows Aswan, Abu Simbel, or a Red Sea finish without turning the route into a flight-heavy checklist.
Planning watchouts
Do not compress Luxor into a rushed pass-through. Egypt works when heat, temple timing, and travel legs are managed realistically, especially if you want major sites outside the midday window.
Giza Pyramids
The essential first stop in Egypt, where timing, viewpoint choice, and enough photo time matter more than simply arriving at the plateau.
Karnak Temple
Karnak makes most sense when read together with Luxor Temple and the Valley of the Kings as part of the New Kingdom story.
Abu Simbel
Abu Simbel feels like a highlight extension on longer routes, especially when paired with Aswan and an early departure rhythm.
Old Cairo
If you want Egypt to feel like more than monuments, Old Cairo adds mosques, markets, and a stronger sense of living urban texture.
Siwa Oasis
Siwa is best for a slower oasis-and-desert contrast, where the value comes from pace, salt lakes, and route commitment rather than rushing in and out.
